For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed being on or around our lakes and ponds. Even as a little kid I can remember trolling for hours with my dad and it didn’t matter if we didn’t catch much, just being in a boat was fascinating. As many people know quality maps of Maines’ waterways are impossible to find. Since 1986 I have been lucky enough to study Maine lakes from the perspective of a fisherman, a recreational boater, and through my primary employment as the Supervisor of the Navigational Aids Program with the Maine Department of Conservation. Building the skills and knowledge necessary to create accurate lake maps of our wonderful lakes and ponds.

Since quality Maine lake maps are so hard to find, Maine Lake Charts, Inc. was founded in February of 2001 bringing together two of my favorite pastimes, boating and mapping. It is our intention to create the most accurate, detailed and affordable lake charts of the lakes and ponds in Maine. We don’t intend to enter into a global market, producing charts for other states. We would prefer instead to concentrate on the development of the best lake maps for the great State of Maine alone. Each chart is thoroughly researched and digitally enhanced to ensure an easy-to-read, accurate and affordable chart. Other services we can provide range from creating wall maps up to 24" wide of lakes in our database to actual, on the water mapping and depth data collection.

Ask any veteran angler or recreational boater and they'll tell you how important a good map is when trying to locate fish or plan a safe outing. Pre-planning is the key and it all begins with a chart from us. Utilizing one of our charts, fishermen can reduce valuable time searching for fish by eliminating unproductive areas in advance. You may also reduce the risk of striking one of those underwater hazards that our lakes and ponds are known for which can not only ruin your vacation but may land you or a member of your family in the hospital. Whether you fish or boat on just one or two lakes or travel all over
Maine to enjoy our natural resources, Maine Lake Charts, Inc. can help you do it effectively and safely.

Most of our colorful charts are 11" x 17" and they can be utilized in many different ways. Our rugged paper charts are virtually indestructible, both tear resistant and waterproof yet if you write on them with pencil you can erase your marks and not the waterproof ink. They contain up to date fisheries information, are folded to 5 3/4" x 11" and can be easily stored in most tackle boxes. Our 11" x 17" laminated maps make great wall hangings for your camp or home, and are also becoming popular as placemats!

Although we are not currently retailing our products we will provide links or contact information to the organizations with which we do business. This way, recreational boaters and fishermen will be able to access these incredible lake charts. Thank you for visiting our site and please check back often for updates.

As with any navigational aid, watercraft operators should use caution when operating in unfamiliar waters. Our charts, although helpful, are not intended to be used solely for navigation.

Our comprehensive collection of lake charts includes Moosehead Lake, Sebago Lake, Cobbossee Lake, and Rangeley Lake to name just a few. Visit our online store and begin shopping right away.

2007 has been a catch-up year for us. We made it a priority to collect data and update as many of our "old style" chart products as possible. Our Great Moose Lake update has been completed and is now available. This chart now displays spot soundings every 400' and lake contour lines in 5' intervals. The Kezar Lake, Pennessawassee Lake, Pemaquid Lake and Wesserunsett Lake revisions have been completed and they are all now available. The West Grand Lake chart will be released soon with new data for Pocumcus Lake. A new product for 2008 is Echo Lake in Mt. Vernon. This is the 38th Maine water body we have charted. They each feature depth information collected in 2007 and lake contour lines.

The Moosehead Lake Fishing and Boating Guide continues to impress even the most seasoned anglers. Covering more than 1800 miles to collect data for this project, we provide you with the most comprehensive look at what lies below Maine's largest lake. Measuring 27"x46" the entire lake is on just one chart. It is available either printed on waterproof and tear resistant paper or flat with a special UV coating suitable for framing. It displays 10' lake contour lines and more than 7500 spot soundings! To learn more and view the lake in 3D, visit our special Moosehead Lake page.

The Sebago Lake Fishing and Boating Guide is amazing! Measuring 22" x 32", it is available printed on waterproof and tear resistant paper, laminated flat, or on regular paper suitable for framing. This Guide displays more than 5900 spot soundings and 10' lake contour lines providing incredible detail. The accuracy of this chart will make even the most experienced angler better prepared and they will last for years. The back side contains loads of information about Sebago Lake including boat launch facilities, geological information, navigation rules and plenty of fisheries information. You can take a look at Sebago Lake in 3D by visiting our 3D page.

Except for the two Guides mentioned above, most of our colorful charts are 11"x17" in size. Our popular flat, laminated charts can be carried in your boat or hung on the wall of your camp or home. Our waterproof paper charts are virtually indestructible. They are tear resistant, waterproof and, best of all, folded to 6"x11" so they are easily stored! You can write on them in pencil and, if need be, erase your marks and not the waterproof ink. Due to the many request we receive for large format prints, we now have certain lakes available on 100lb semi-gloss paper. These 14.3 x 22.5 inch prints have a special UV coating to ensure they won't fade. They are suitable for framing and are available only through our online store. All large format prints feature updated depth information, lake contour lines, and are shipped with added protection to prevent damage.

Select Maine Lake Charts are available at the LL Bean Hunting and Fishing Store in Freeport, Maine. Our waterproof paper charts of Moosehead Lake, Sebago Lake, Long Lake (Naples), Great Pond in Belgrade, Lake Cobbosseecontee, Rangeley Lake and Thompson Lake are currently available.
