The incredible accuracy of our charts has led many customers to ask about the availablity of digital chips for their GPS units. This is understandible because, can you imagine being able to display on your GPS unit our depth information and lake contour lines? Picture this, while you are trolling along, you can see what lies ahead of you so, if you want to stay in 20' of water, you can. If you want to troll deep, just bouncing your down-rigger ball along the bottom, you can. Or, if you are looking for that underwater hump where the big bass lay, you can sneek right up to it. I won't even go into how it can improve your ice fishing productivity.

While we have been trying diligently to convince the makers of GPS units that there is a market for these chips in Maine, they still consider us to be a "small market" compared to states like Florida, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. While we wish we could create our own chips for use in GPS units, copyright infringement is a serious issue when it comes to the language OEM's (Original Equipment Manufacturer) use to display this information. It seems they are not in any hurry to add Maine to their list of available lakes.

So.... it is up to you. If you want to be able to have this type of information for a lake or pond that you visit, you need contact the manufacturer of your GPS unit. The more request they receive, the more apt they are to add Maine data. While most of them have heard from us, if they hear from you (their customers) perhaps they will move Maine up their priority list. Of course, when you drop them an email or contact them by phone it doesn't hurt to mention the accuracy you have found in using MLC paper charts!
